Genessis GalindoGenessis Galindo is a junior from Santa Clarita, CA. She is majoring in Business Analytics and minoring in Computer Science and Spanish. She loves the University of Rochester because of all the amazing memories she has created while here and the endless opportunities for students to get involved.
She is currently a member of 2020 Class Council, Alpha Kappa Psi, Gamma Phi Beta, Students' Association Government (Administration & Review Committee) and the D'Lion Organization. Last year, she served as one of the Programming Chairs for 2020 Class Council and is currently serving as the Vice President. Genessis enjoys being part of the Class Council because she is able to work with the rest of the dedicated and passionate members to plan and execute events that foster unity and school spirit. She also currently serves at the Chairwoman of Community Service within the Gamma Phi Beta chapter. Helping the community has always been one of her passions. She loves having the opportunity to plan events that benefit the local community as well as her sisters. Genessis has also been involved with Students' Association Government since her very first semester at Rochester. She joined the Administration & Review Committee (ARC) as an Analyst where she was able to serve as a resource for student organizations. This role assists them with membership recruitment and retention, constitution updates, SOAR, and everything else students organizations may need to succeed. Her sophomore year, she was appointed to Deputy Chair for the committee where she helped remodel the SOAR by adding concise questions to filter information accurately, creating a rubric that produces consistent guidelines, and reporting constructive feedback. She appreciates assisting student organizations and watching them contribute to the campus community. She is a second year D'Lion and loves helping first-years acclimate and find their homes here on campus. One of her favorite activities is taking them to the Activities Fair so they can find organizations that they are passionate about as well as connecting the with resources on campus. Genessis has truly enjoyed her almost three years here at the University of Rochester and has since gotten to know the diverse student body and their needs. She is enthralled to be part of this elections season and looks forward to meeting fellow students and sharing ideas while gaining feedback to make this campus "ever better" for us all. |
Lionel Kirenga Lionel Kirenga is a Sophomore born in Rwanda, raised in Zimbabwe and currently residing in Tanzania. He is majoring in Financial Economics. He loves the Students' Association (SA) because it provides students with a voice and because SA has a lot of potential to genuinely help the student body.
In his first year, he was elected to the Students' Association Government as a senator. He was one of three students selected to sit on the University's Presidential Search Committee at the end of his first-year. He is currently a member of the Students' Association Appropriation Committee (SAAC), a First-Year Resident Advisor, a member of PASApella A cappella and the Pan-African Student Association. As a senator, Lionel worked with the Student Life Committee and the International Student Affairs Committee (ISAC). As a part of the Student Life Commitee, he spearheaded the Sexual Health and Awareness Ambassadorship Program. He focused on projects that would directly afffect students. In ISAC, he worked to improve International Student Orietation as well as better the international experience. Lionel has been a member of the Students' Association throughout his career at the University of Rochester. As a member of SAAC, he advocates for student organizations to receive enough funding. He is responsible for all the intercollegiate and awareness student organizations and works to ensure that the needs of these organizations are met. As a part of the Univerity's Presidential Search Committee, Lionel served as the voice for the River Campus student body. He was able to speak with students and communicate student opinion during the hiring process of our next University President. In his role as a first-year RA, Lionel is able to help his residents transition into college life. He works to create an inclusive, supportive, and respectful environmnet in which all residents will feel comfortable. He plans and executes programs gearred to his hall and acts as an emergency contact. Lionel is excited to run a student focused term that makes sure that each student's voice is heard. Lionel is enthusiastic to speak with his fellow yellowjackets and listen to what they have to say. |
